About the role : 

The Reporting team in the Comptrollers group has an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Analyst to join their team. Reporting to the Team Lead, Corporate Reporting, this position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timely reporting of the company’s corporate activities including company-wide general and administrative (“G&A”) expense and reporting.

The successful candidate will be a team player who strives for excellence in reporting accuracy and demonstrates strong attention to detail and systems knowledge while working within a team environment. Responsibilities : 

  • Preparation of the monthly G&A allocations cost mapping report.
  • Liaise with cost center owners throughout the organization to update G&A allocation rates quarterly.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly company-wide G&A reports, pre-and-post allocation, explain variances to budget and forecast.
  • Liaise with various Accounting teams to compile monthly information for internal performance reports and quarterly information for external financial statements.
  • Act as gate keeper for the creation of new G&A cost centers to ensure they are created in accordance with the defined rules while still meeting business requirements.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to ensure accurate and timely financial results for the Insurance, Safety and Reserves groups and account reconciliations.
  • Work with the Atlantic finance team to prepare quarterly Global Protection Company intercompany reporting and invoicing.
  • Prepare and manage journal entries related to OIL Insurance.
  • Review consolidated financial statements to ensure they appropriately reflect the results related to the Company’s corporate activities.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of business processes.
  • Support overall compliance with SOX processes and controls.
  • Liaise with external auditors as necessary.

Candidate requirements : 

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • University degree and a certified professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Minimum 5 years with accounting systems or relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry would be advantageous
  • Experience with SAP is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Motivated individual with a positive attitude who is also a team player
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
