About the role: 

The Dir, Aviation is responsible for leading all facets of the Charter Communications Aviation organization, with ultimate responsibility for the safe, secure, and efficient operation of all company and supplemental lift aircraft. This role ensures alignment of the Aviation department with corporate strategies and helps extend the brand and success of Charter Communications. The Dir, Aviation champions business aviation as an accelerator of revenue growth and enterprise profitability by maximizing the productive use of senior executive time, enabling meetings at geographically dispersed locations.


  • Responsible for establishing Aviation department direction and achieving organizational results
  • Ensure that Aviation is a strategic business partner with corporate and is fully aligned with overall company goals and objectives
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and administration of all policies and procedures for corporate flight operations
  • Assure compliance with the Charter Business Aircraft Use Policy, the Charter Communications Aviation Flight Operations Manual (FOM) and all applicable local, state, federal and international regulatory requirements
  • Lead the establishment and deployment of the Vision, Mission, Values, Leadership Competencies, and annual Operating Plan for Aviation
  • Responsible for Flight Operations, Aircraft Maintenance, Scheduling, Business Adm., Onboard Customer Service and Executive Office Interface
  • Responsible for safe operation of all Company operated aircraft and oversight of supplemental lift carriers
  • Maintain authority over all flight operations, both internally and externally
  • Assure compliance with and monitors changes in all applicable local, state, federal and international regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the Aviation Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
  • Remain abreast of new developments in business aviation
  • Partner with Home-Base FBO on compliance with EH&S requirements as needed
  • Oversee the department training programs and ensure qualifications are current
  • Identify, measure, and monitor financial and operating performance
  • Act as the liaison with aircraft manufacturers and industry associations
  • Responsible to provide technical, financial, and operational resources
  • Lead all efforts related to the aircrafts which includes but is not limited to; the sale and procurement of aircraft and related support equipment, monitoring the assessment of fleet utilization and providing recommendations on fleet composition
  • Perform other duties as requested

Bachelor’s degree and continuing education appropriate to the function preferred


Hold a current US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate and associated type rating on at least two (2) aircraft operated by Charter Communications

Possess and maintain a FAA First Class Medical Certificate

Maintain currency as FAA Certified Flight Instructor

Related Work Experience

5+ years Director of Aviation or equivalent aviation leadership experience
