Responsibilities :

  •  Global responsibility for geological representation on site during drilling operations.
  •  Oversee geological operations and various well data acquisitions and actively participate in critical
    decisions through the interpretation of all available data.
  • Supervise the personnel of the Mudlogging Services Company, ensure that all equipment supplied by the contractor is in accordance with the program and the contract, identify, and assess the risks of drilling.
  • Carry out unannounced Audits for the Mud Logging service (Cabin, Equipment, Installations, etc…).
  •  Perform gas calibrations (Chromato, TGas, H2S), from 16” and the different drilling phases that will
    follow.
  • Ensure that all geological operations are carried out in a safe manner and report any accident or
    incident.
  • Preparation of the Daily Geological Report.
  •  Description of the cuttings from the borehole.
  •  Development of the lithological column and the log composite.
  •  Determine formation tops during drilling.
  •  Ensures the compliance of the drilling program, and its implementation.
  •  Execute on site the decision to initiate core drilling, intermediate logging, continue or stop drilling at casing points, etc…. After having requested the approval of Geological Operations at the level of the GB Hassi Messaoud base.
  •  Developed correlations with neighbouring wells to define the casing shoe anchor point for each phase.
  •  Supervision of all Wireline operations.
  •  Ensure correct sampling, processing, storage and shipping of samples (Cuttings, Carrots, Fluids, etc.).
  •  Maintain permanent contact with the base of operations, to communicate all geological information,problems encountered and propose possible solutions.
  • Contribute to all geological operations, preparation of the well program, SQM, experience feedback,
    drafting of operating procedures, visits to company facilities and subcontractors.
  •  Observe operations and communicate any problems ensuring an optimized and safe decision for data acquisition. Compile and update documents, reports, logs related to well monitoring and geological operations.
  •  Take part in all meetings relating to drilling at Rig level, including HSE meetings.

Candidate requirements :

  • Engineering degree in Petroleum Geology.
  •  Minimum 10 years of experience in the conduct of operations as a Geologist.
  •  Very good knowledge of the Geolite software, used by the geological operations team.
  •  Very good command of English and French.
  •  Ability to work in a multicultural environment in 4×4 system.
