Position OverviewThe Project Engineer will support construction activities by planning, organizing and implementing those management duties (i.e., project controls systems, engineering interface, subcontract and materials management, purchasing, scheduling). The role will provide project administration or support to the Project Manager on larger Oil, Gas, & Chemical projects and manage technical and administrative staff to facilitate instruction management services.

LocationThis position can be based in Houston, TX; Bloomington, MN; Lenexa, KS, or one of our West Coast locations.
Responsibilities
Manage and direct multi-discipline engineering teams by collaborating, setting direction and expectations, coordinating with procurement and construction districts
Maintain overall ownership of engineering execution to meet project milestones and objectives
Support project change management processes to ensure the project scope of work, schedule and budgets are clearly defined and understood
Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for all engineering work; determine and oversee engineering project controls, schedules and budgets
Serve as engineering representative with customers, constructors, subcontractors, and vendors at kick-off meetings, job walks, project reviews, and other project stakeholder engagements
Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure engineering procedures are followed
Maintain ongoing communication with project stakeholders, making adjustments as necessary to comply with project needs within contractual obligations, or adjust engineering deliverables to meet customer needs
Ensure all work products are consistent with industry codes and standards and in accordance with good engineering practice
Provide training and mentoring to mid-level and senior engineers and/or project engineers to promote employee development
Utilize Kiewit’s unique project controls environment along with industry execution knowledge and fundamental practices to manage engineering progress and performance
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering in any discipline from a four-year college or university
Advanced degrees or certifications a plus
At least 3+ years’ related experience and/or training, specifically in the oil, gas, and chemical industry
Competent in the use of computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Sharepoint and Outlook
Working knowledge and understanding of project controls terminology and project scheduling processes
Professional Engineer License (desirable)
