Responsible for supporting the Fuels Regulatory Planning team through in-depth review and analysis of current and proposed regulations or regulatory initiatives that impact Valero’s liquid transportation fuels business. This position will be responsible for timely analysis of impacts of new regulatory initiatives which will be provided to affected Valero operations and to corporate management.
Main responsibilities :
Follows, researches and reports significant federal and state regulatory developments and their impact on Valero by reading publications, newsletters and consultant reports, by attending industry conferences and through personal contacts.
Provides corporate leadership with information and analysis reports on all regulatory developments related to fuels.
Provides guidance and consultation to management and their staffs regarding development of future fuels regulations, including guidance on required procedures for specific business activities.
Researches, analyzes, recommends, and implements innovative processes and solutions that directly impact business results and add value to Valero.
Assist in preparing comments on proposed new regulatory requirements considering Valero-specific impacts and in communication of regulatory changes to impacted parties across the organization.
Strategically partners with the broader fuels regulatory planning team (including traditional fuels programs, etc.) in support of related business initiatives.
Provides corporate regulatory liaison support to our operating assets with regulators and trade associations as necessary.
Provides analyses on energy regulations across all business sectors, including: demand for refined/petrochemical products and alternative energy sources, renewable refining capacity & utilization, regional supply/ demand balances & trade flows, biofuels supply/demand, automotive trends, and developments in vehicle powertrain technology.
Keeps up to date with pending fuels legislation by reading publications, newsletters and consultant reports, by attending industry conferences and through personal contacts.
Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor’s or higher level degree – in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Energy or related field required.
10 years of experience in the following area(s): Energy industry or consulting related to the energy industry required.
Master’s or higher level degree – MBA, MS preferred.
Knowledge of state fuels compliance programs, international fuels compliance programs and renewable fuels programs preferred.
