About the role: 

The Sr. Advisor, Information Technology is responsible for end-to-end Category Management including creation of category strategy, executing strategic sourcing initiatives and commercial/contract negotiation of the most complex initiatives in the Information Technology portfolio. This experienced, independent, strategic Category Manager will create and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with both stakeholders and suppliers. The Sr. Advisor will have progressive experience in the portfolio and an aptitude for mentoring junior members on the team.

Responsibilities : 

Planning

  • Provide inputs to the assessment & prioritization of enterprise-wide requirements for sourcing
  • Maintain a high degree of market knowledge and market intelligence
  • Work with business stakeholders in planning and setting priorities
  • Assist in development of the annual SCM Delivery Plan
  • Stay informed on and share supply chain trends impacting the business and industry
  • Identify and present opportunities to continuously improve the Category Management model to support SCM and business clients

Sourcing /Contracting

  • Provide expertise and lead complex sourcing strategies, strategic contract negotiations & contract drafting to maximize sustainable competitive advantage and operational performance
  • Ensure sourcing and contracting strategies support business objectives, approved sourcing channels are utilized  and enable efficient procurement and materials management practices
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and suppliers to deliver required outcomes in accordance with priorities and timelines
  • Guide stakeholders in exploring trade‐offs and business benefits of various negotiation strategies/outcomes
  • Ensure contracts fully reflect final negotiated outcomes and award decisions; complete necessary implementation planning in conjunction with business partners
  • Ensure consistent use of modern sourcing methods to drive exceptional total value creation and supply assurance
  • Provide contract expertise and consultation early in the sourcing phase

Risk Management & Data Integrity

  • Annual performance metrics are identified, monitored and managed to drive accountability, efficiency and continuous improvement
  • Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks
  • Advance use of analytics to support the aggregation, normalization, and analysis of spend data and identify potential value opportunities
  • Advance capture and utilization of key market, spend and performance analytics to further business decisions, manage risk to supply and drive value in sourcing and supply activities
  • Advance spend, category, and other reporting to inform supply chain performance and business decisions
  • Maintain taxonomy and associated reporting
  • Manage price evolution

Supplier Management

  • Create and support positive and mutually beneficial relationships with Cenovus suppliers by challenging and motivating suppliers to optimize service outcomes
  • Ensure suppliers are commercially and technically qualified and meet Cenovus minimum safety requirements
  • Establish and maintain supplier performance management measurement tools

Candidate requirements : 

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Post-secondary Business or Supply Chain degree required
  • SCMP designation is a strong asset
  • 8+ years’ progressive experience in Supply Chain Management, Category Management, Agreement Management and Supplier Relationship Management
  • A high degree of financial acumen including the understanding of supplier cost drivers and pricing models
  • Ability to take complex situations and leverage problem solving, communication, and project management skills to present sound recommendations
  • Extensive experience leading and managing complex RFx activities
  • Strong analytical skills; able to solve problems through honest analysis coupled with good judgment, initiative and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated excellent negotiation skills on the most complex initiatives
  • Strong presentation skills; able to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and with different levels of stakeholders
  • Sourcing expertise with planning, assessing and implementing outsourcing and multi-sourcing delivery models
  • Experienced, approachable mentor
