About The Role:

The system engineer forms part of a team responsible for the resolution of, complex and repeat issues (Problem Management), received from the Tier 1 team. They will be responsible for generating and driving initiatives to improve performance of service operations and enhancing the diagnostic capabilities Operations and Maintenance function.
Carrying out root cause investigations of both Major and repeat incidents with a view to reducing the number of incidents and improving customer satisfaction is also a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Performance responsibility for the ROP Network designated as primary to their role.
  • Perform routine Health/Sanity checks across all devices in the Tetra, Microwave, IP/MPLS, IPT/CAD systems.
  • Improve maintenance performance in Network Availability, Time to Repair and Repeat faults.
  • Identification and resolution of generic repeat equipment issues. This shall be done in line with the Problem and knowledge Management Process.
  • Manage key supplier groups to ensure the achievement of root cause analysis for generic and complex equipment issues.
  • Manage all historical data backup activities as well as disk storage.

  • Conduct reviews of major service failures and incidents and ensure corrective action plans are compiled and the learning completed.
  • Audit cross-functional and cross divisional activities within the fault management process and ensure learning is documented and followed through.
  • Responsible for ensuring cost efficiency is met when considering and delivering initiatives to enhance network stability.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Software/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in any of the following domains such as Core, IP networks, Security engineering, Network engineering, Systems engineering, IP transport, Microwave and IPMPLS.
  • English language – fluent (excellent verbal and written communication skills).
  • Self-motivated, Highly collaborative, Efficient communication, communication with 3rd parties.
