About the role: 

The VSA (Video Security & Access Control) Infrastructure Compute team focuses on the accessibility and reliability of current systems and infrastructure while at the same time looking to improve the environment by taking advantage of the latest Cloud Computing offerings.

Responsibilities :

  • Implements, and supports the VSA compute infrastructure.
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and parts as well as documentation of vendor activities.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.  Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
  • Provide support per request from various constituencies.  Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Develops and documents system standards for computer and network devices 
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor being able to articulate and present solutions and their associated business value to internal customers, team members and management.
  • Experiment with new AWS, OCI, & Azure services and evangelize the benefits.
  • Be available to respond to after hours critical issues.

Candidate requirements:

  • 7 years+ Windows System Administration experience supporting, implementing and/or administering services such as Microsoft Windows Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, File & Print Servers, DFS, Backup and Disaster Recovery
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on Linux (RHEL) System administration experience.
  • 3-5+ years of VMWare ESXi experience.
  • Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors. 
  • 3-5+ years of SQL Database Administration.  Experience with Clusters, Availability Groups, Failover Cluster, and backups strongly preferred.
  • 3-5+ years experience with Dell, Cisco, HPE infrastructure hardware support.  Cisco UCS and experience with Fiber Channel is strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with Nutanix. (Preferred)
  • Experience with Commvault Backup and Recovery Software. (Preferred)
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or Oracle. (Preferred)

  • Ability to perform under pressure, handling interruptions and changes without losing productivity and plan assignments and monitor performance according to priorities as demonstrated by regularly meeting established deadlines.
  • Ability to provide consistent follow through with the Team Manager and IT Project manager on issues/concerns to ensure appropriate visibility and escalation where needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with others in a consistently positive manner, exercising discretion and tact.

Education / Experience:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science and/or related field. (Preferred)
  • Certifications related to Microsoft, VMWare, AWS or other Cloud Services. (Preferred)

       Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience
  • 5+ years Windows Systems Administration experience
